Meadow Flowers Australia, in an exclusive interview with Eleven Media, shared the learning experience children from Little Apple Tree childcare centre gained when seeds from Meadow Flowers Australia were germinated and grown at the entrance to the building.
Little Apple Tree is a family-owned childcare centre nestled among the gums in Gold Coast’s famously green hinterland.
Owner and Director Sascha Valewink created a beautiful Meadow Flower garden at Little Apple Tree’s entrance. This offered the children an opportunity to watch the flowers grow, pick them when they bloomed, and immerse themselves in nature right at the front door.
“At Little Apple Tree we have an environment which enables the children to be truly in nature and connect with nature every day they come to kindy,” Sascha says.
“This is why we chose Meadow Flowers’s beautiful Honey Bee and Butterfly Mix to greet the children and families as they entered and left each day. An article sourced from QUT Library discusses the trend away from nature in our current lives and the window of opportunity that exists for children to make connections at an early age inspired us. In collaboration with Meadow Flowers Australia, we achieved great flowering results and parents speak highly of the close experience with nature their children had.”
“Not only was the mix of wildflowers beautiful but easy to plant and grow by following the Meadow Flowers how to sow guide,” Sascha says. “My husband and I did it all one Saturday”.
Meadow Flowers’s noted that having the children help get the ground prepared over winter and having them participate in planting the seeds in spring creates deep year-round learning experience for them.
